This picture was taken in 1954 of my parents holding me. My parents named me Karen Anne (with an "e" because Ann was so common, they wanted my name to be a bit different). Anyhow, I was called Karen Anne for the first few years of my life. I think my mom wanted me to be called Karen Anne because at the time, the name Karen was pretty popular. The bottom line though is that I didn't like it. I always just went by Karen.
Funny thing about names--the person they belong to really has the final say in the matter. My dad was named Harrington and the only pe
ople who actually called him that was his mother and her sisters. Everyone else who knew him called him "Harry."
Do you go by the name your parents planned for you?

Well, in my case I usually go by my nickname, except when I sign checks or other legal stuff. Back in high school I tried to go by my middle name for awhile, but that effort flopped big time!
P.S. I've left you a photo challenge at my other blog:

My formal name is Linda, but I only go by Lin to friends. I can tell when someone doesn't know me well because they call me Linda.
I do. "Ronnica" is both my given name and the name my parents wanted me to go by. They never shortened it to "Ron" or "Ronnie" since those are my dad's nicknames. I wanted to go by "Ronn" for a while (and still like it), but it's never stuck.
Hi,
I dont have a nickname because my name is Anne-Marie. Sometimes my husband will try and call me A.M., but it does not stick.
Visiting from Sits. Enjoy the rest of the week!
hi...hopped over from sits. my middle name is anne too!
I go by Kristin...but I always wanted something more exotic. HA!
Hi, thanks for stopping by on my SITS day! I've been here before... I remember the sweet stories about your dad. They always remind me of my own grandpa.
Have a great day!
Never cared much for Judy and prefer Jude and my Mama always called me Judy Mae especially when she was mad at me.
