My Hammer from Dad |
My dad loved woodworking and carpentry so it came as no surprise to me when I found this poem on a church bulletin he saved from 1947. I think it was written by Rev. William Whiteman:
CONSIDER THE HAMMER
It keeps its head.
It keeps pounding away.
It doesn't fly off the handle.
It looks at the other side too.
It finds the point, then drives it home.
It makes mistakes, but starts all over.
It is the only knocker in the world that does any good.
